The Commission on Elections – Daraga, Albay posted on Saturday, October 9, the tentative list of candidates for the municipality this coming 2022 synchronized elections. Only two candidates vied for the mayoralty seat and these are incumbent Mayor Victor Perete running under the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino — Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and former Mayor Carlwyn Baldo of ABAG PROMDI.

Perete and Baldo already faced each other in the 2019 mayoralty race along with Rodel Batocabe. AKO BICOL’s Batocabe, however, was murdered and the blame was placed on Baldo. This put Perete on the winning streak. To date, however, Baldo was not convicted of the accusation.

Meanwhile, incumbent Vice Mayor Jungie Jaucian is seeking re-election without contender. Jaucian is under PDP-Laban.

16 Sangguniang Bayan hopefuls are also gunning for a seat in the local legislative council.
