The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) – Bicol records 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one death due to the virus. The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol Region is now 687.
Active cases are 388.

Of the 11 new cases, 7 are from Albay (2 Legazpi City, 2 Daraga, 1 Manito, 1 Guinobatan, 1 Polangui), 2 from Sorsogon (1 Gubat, 1 Bacon), one from Camarines Sur (Sipocot) and one (1) from Naga City. The newly recorded cases are described as follows:

New COVID-19 Death
DOH CHD – Bicol records the 18th COVID-19 death in the region among the 11 new cases. Bicol#684 died at 5:24 PM Monday, August 10, 2020, same day as his onset of illness and date of consultation. Bicol#684 is a hospital staff at a private hospital in Naga City. His cause of death is COVID confirmed, Critical Community Acquired Pneumonia – High Risk.
Total deaths in the region is now 18. Half of these deaths are from Albay.

Recoveries
A total of 8 recoveries have been reported and these are all from Albay. Those who recovered are the following: Bicol#328, Bicol#396, Bicol#343, Bicol#359, Bicol#360, Bicol#361, Bicol#362, and Bicol#367.
Test Results
The newly discovered cases are part of the 194 Covid-19 Test Results received by DOH CHD-Bicol. 193 of these are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while one is from Bicol Medical Center (BMC).
Except for the 11, the rest of the test results are negative. The breakdown of the 183negative results are as follows: Albay PHO -86, BRGHGMC – 1, Catanduanes -20, Legazpi CESU – 52, and Sorsogon – 24.
Cases Nationwide
Meanwhile, the Philippines broke again its record on the number of newly discovered cases of Covid-19 by registering 6,958 positive cases Monday. Total cases in the Philippines is now 136,638 with 68,159 recoveries and 2,293 deaths. Active cases are 66,186.
The Philippines continue to rank first in Southeast Asia in terms of total and active Covid-19 cases.
