01 August Bicol Covid update: Confirmed cases now at 459

The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) – Bicol records 13 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol Region is now 459. Active cases are 252.

Twelve of new cases are part of the 308 results received by the DOH CHD-Bicol, 290 are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while 18 are from Bicol Medical Center (BMC).

One of the 13 positive cases has been processed by a DOH – accredited private laboratory in Manila.

Of the 13 new cases, 8 are from Albay (4 Legazpi City, 3 Guinobatan, 1 Daraga), 2 from Masbate (1 Cataingan, 1 Pio V. Corpuz) and one each from Camarines Sur (Bato), Naga City and Camarines Norte (San Vicente). The newly confirmed cases are described as follows:

Bicol#459 was tested via RT-PCR by a DOH accredited private laboratory in Manila through his company. His result came out positive on July 27, 2020, however, his Case Investigation Form (CIF) was received today from the said laboratory.

On Recoveries

Five (5) recoveries have been recorded today. Active cases are two hundred forty-seven (247).

Bicol#178 – 36- year old male from Legazpi City, Albay.
Bicol#228 – 65-year old male from Camalig, Albay.
Bicol#233 – 46-year old male from Legazpi City, Albay.
Bicol#245 – 61-year old male from Virac, Catanduanes.
Bicol#274 – 55-year old male Mercedes, Camarines Norte.

Note: Recoveries not reported to Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance

Breakdown of 296 negative results:
Albay PHO – 63, BRTTH – 1, BMC – 12, BRGHGMC – 1, Camarines Norte – 32, Camarines Sur – 41, Catanduanes – 9, Masbate – 22, Sorsogon – 11, Legazpi CESU – 57 and Naga CESU – 47.

National situation

The Philippines records 4,963 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, the highest number of cases in one day. The total number of cases in the country is now 98,232 with 65,265 as recoveries and 2,039 deaths. The recoveries increased drastically when the DOH reclassified asymptomatic and mild Covid cases as recoveries.
