“If you cannot beat them, let them ride the bus.”
This is the approach of the local government unit of Casiguran, Sorsogon headed by Mayor Edwin “Boboy” Hamor to regulate the influx of market-goers. The LGU deployed a bus from Barangay Boton to Casiguran Public Market and from Barangay Casay to Casiguran Public Market.
Only qualified persons are allowed to ride the bus and this is being ensured by the barangay police and the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that are deployed to assist in the Libreng Sakay operation.
Utilizing buses for the operation ensures not only the observance of social distancing but also regulates mobility as Casiguran residents will not anymore hire tricycles or use motorcycles in going to the market.
