Price freeze of commodities remains in effect until May 11

Do you know how much the basic commodities you are buying should cost under the Covid-19 enhanced community quarantine?

In compliance with the Presidential Proclamation No. 922, declaring the whole Philippines under the State of Public Health Emergency, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) issued a price freeze for basic commodities. With the price freeze, sellers are not allowed to increase the price or sell beyond the price ceiling set by the DTI or else, violators will be fined up to P1 million and//or face an imprisonment of up to ten years in prison.

The DTI Region 5 issued the price ceilings of basic commodities particularly canned sardines, milk, coffee, soap and detergent, instant noodles, bread and bottled water, among others. The price ceilings will remain in effect until May 11, 2020 unless sooner lifted.

The price ceilings of the covered commodities in Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Masbate and Sorsogon are as follows:
