In Manito, Albay, two are challenging to take the local political power from the Daep Family. Rebecca Chen and Jerry Daen is competing against incumbent mayor, Joshua Mari Daep. Daep is the son of local political stalwarts Cesar and Carmencita Daep.

The younger Daep is running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Chen will be under the Partido ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) while Daen is running as independent. The incumbent is claimed to be in an advantage as his closest contender in 2016, General Alex Tamondong, is not anymore running. Daep claimed 50% of the 2016 mayoralty votes while Chen only garnered 6.7% of the total votes cast

In the vice mayoralty race, incumbent Vice Mayor Carlito Belludo will face three challengers: Mar Jun Dagsil and Arly Guiriba who are both independent candidates; and, Diego Lopez of PDDS.

Six of the incumbent councilors are seeking re-election and this basically leaves two seats that are up for grabs.
