Former Daraga Municipal Mayor and 2010 mayoral candidate, Gerry R. Jaucian, extended his sympathies to the family and relatives of the late Cong. Carlos “Papay” Imperial last Monday, April 12. Imperial died after battling with pneumonia and other complications at Medical City Hospital last April 11.

In the recollection of Mayor Jaucian, Cong. Imperial is a”Daragueño sa puso asin sa gibo.” Despite generating low election votes in his hometown, Daraga remained as a priority area for his congressional funds.

Sabi ni Mayor Jaucian, “Kan kita nagsirbing mayor sa Daraga, yaon si Congressman na pirming naka-antabay para kita suportaran lalo na sa mga proyekto na kung saen limitado lang an pondo kan munisipyo. Kaiba sa mga proyektong katabang niyato si Congressman Imperial iyo an mga infrastraktura arog kan mga tinampo, line canals, school and barangay facilities.”

It is also claimed that had it not for the desilting projects financed both by the Offices of then-Mayor Gerry Jaucian and Cong. Cong. Imperial is also instrumental to the creation of Bicol University and the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital. He is also one of the founding members of the Bicol Bloc – one of the recognized groups in the Congress and noted for delivering solid votes.
