CANORECO explains high electricity rates

The Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative (CANORECO) increased the electricity rates by P0.7798 per kilowatt hour amidst the on-going enhanced community quarantine that led to the flooding of complaints via Facebook.

CANORECO explained that the increase was due to the high Generation Charge and pricing under the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), and the transmission charge of the . National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). Transmission charge is at P 0.1434

CANORECO also blames the increase in the Consumer Price Index, Foreign Exchange Rate and Nestle Coal Price which is the basis of the charging of the Aboitiz Power Renewables Incorporated (APRI). APRI is the supplier of electricity to CANORECO.
