2009 Binibining Pilipinas International Melody Gersbach, died in a car accident last Saturday, August 21 in Bula, Camarines Sur, along with her make-up artist, Alden Orense, and their driver, Santos Ramon Jr. The fourth victim, Ronald Lita, was also hurt and is nor recuperating at the Bicol Medical Center.
Gersbach and her companions were on their way to Naga City for the screening of the contestants for the pageant for the Penafrancia Festival. They were riding a Toyota Innova car when it collided with a bus from the Guevarra Bus Line driven by Wilson Pontillas. Pontillas surrendered and is now facing charges in relation to the incident.
Gersbach is a Bicolana from Cullat, Daraga, Albay though his father is a German national. She was born on November 18, 1986 in Daraga.
Aside from her being the 2009 Bb. Pilipinas International, Gersbach also held the Miss Bicolandia 2008 and the Mutya ng Magayon 2008 titles.
She is a management graduate of the University of Asia and the Pacific and is managing a restaurant in Legazpi City before she met her demise.
