Three provincial, two city and seven municipal local government units from the Bicol Region have been included in the 135 Beyond Compliant & 436 Fully Compliant awardees for 22nd Gawad KALASAG Seal for Excellence in DRRM and Humanitarian Assitance for the Local DRRM Councils and Offices according to the Gawag Kalasag Award Committee of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council
The Bicol Region is led by Legazpi City which is considered as “Beyond Compliant”. Iriga is the other city in the region that has been awarded the Kalasag Seal in the “Fully Compliant” category.
The provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur have been awarded as “Fully Compliant” in the provincial category making them at par with 22 other provinces in the country.
The Municipalities of Aroroy and Pio V. Corpuz in Masbate, Bulan and Bulusan in Sorsogon; and, Magarao, Nabua and Pasacao all in Camarines Sur were also awarded the seal of “Fully Compliant” in the Municipality category.
