Albay’s incumbent governor, Al Francis Bichara, is facing a challenger this time in the person of Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal. Bichara will defend his seat under the Nacionalista Party (NP) while Rosal will run under the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino Party (KANPP).
Two independent candidates, Mario Bacul and Rodel Luna, are also eyeing for the seat but faces the risk of being declared as nuisance. This narrows the gubernatorial elections to a duel between Bichara and Rosal.
Harold Imperial and Edcel Greco Lagman will also face each other in the battle for vice gubernatorial seat. Imperial is running under Manny Pacquiao’s ABAG PROMDI while Lagman is under Aksyon Demokratiko.
Four provincial board hopefuls are also gunning for a seat in the First District, six in the Second District, and seven in the Third District.
