As of August 9, 2020, confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Bicol Region are 676 as new test results yielded 21 new positive cases. One new death has also been recorded. Active cases are 378.
Of the 21 new cases, 12 are from Camarines Norte (6 Daet, 3 Basud, 1 Jose Panganiban, 1 Labo, 1 San Vicente), 5 are from Sorsogon (3 Sorsogon City, 1 Bulan, 1 Casiguran), 3 from Camarines Sur (2 San Jose, 1 Canaman), and 1 from Naga City.
New Covid-19 Death
Bicol#543, a 78-year old Filipino female from Basud, Camarines Norte who was reported positive last August 5, 2020, died Sunday. Strict burial protocols will be followed for her.

Test Results Received
The new positive cases and recoveries are based on the 194 test resuls received Sunday. 143 of these are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while 51 are from Bicol Medical Center (BMC).
Of the 194 test results, 21 are new positive, while 1 is repeat test.

Cases Nationwide
Meanwhile, total cases in the country rose to 129,913 after the DOH recorded 3,109 new cases. Active cases is now 59,968. Recoveries is recorded at 67,675 while deaths is 2,270.
The Philippines continue to lead Southeast Asia in terms of the number of Covid-19 cases.
