03 July Bicol Covid Update: Cases now at 489

The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) – Bicol received 210 Covid-19 test results on Monday, August 3. Eleven of the results are positive of Coronavirus disease-19 bringing to 489 the total number of cases in Region 5.

Of the 11 new Covid-19 cases, five are from Albay (4 Legazpi City, 1 Daraga), five are from Camarines Sur (3 Calabanga, 1 Goa, 1 Buhi), and one from Matnog, Sorsogon. The cases are identified as follows:

  • Bicol#479 – 30 – M – Goa, Camarines Sur – onset or Illness: July 29, 2020 – To be established – Physician – Quarantined – Current Address: Naga City
  • Bicol#480 – 19 – F – Calabanga, Camarines Sur – Asymptomatic – Exposed to Bicol#293 – Quarantined
  • Bicol#481 – 21 – M – Calabanga, Camarines Sur – Asymptomatic – Pasig City (July 27, 2020) – Quarantined
  • Bicol#482 – 25 – F – Calabanga, Camarines Sur – Asymptomatic – Laguna (July 26, 2020) – Production Operator – Quarantined
  • Bicol#483 – 40 – F – Buhi, Camarines Sur – Asymptomatic – Quezon City (July 25, 2020) – Construction Canteen Worker – Quarantined
  • Bicol#484 – 1 – F – Matnog, Sorsogon – Asymptomatic – Taguig (July 18, 2020) – Quarantined
  • Bicol#485 – 61 – F – Daraga, Albay – Asymptomatic – Exposed to Bicol#404 – Gov’t Employee – Quarantined
  • Bicol#486 – 49 – M – Legazpi City, Albay – Asymptomatic – Exposed to Bicol#378 – Eco Aide – Quarantined
  • Bicol#487 – 34 – F – Legazpi City, Albay – Onset of Illness: July 29, 2020 – Exposed to Bicol#378 – BHW – Quarantined
  • Bicol#488 – 32 – M – Legazpi City, Albay – Onset of Illness: July 26, 2020 – Exposed to Bicol#393 – Office Staff – Quarantined
  • Bicol#489 – 21 – M – Legazpi City, Albay – Asymptomatic – Taguig City (July 29, 2020) – Welder – Quarantined

On Recoveries

A total of 30 recoveries have been reported on Monday that active cases went down to 238. The list of recoveries are as follows:

  • Sorsogon – Bicol#280
  • Masbate – Bicol#167, Bicol#168, Bicol#169, Bicol#170, Bicol#171, Bicol#172, Bicol#173, Bicol#174, Bicol#176, Bicol#177, Bicol#210, Bicol#211, Bicol#232, Bicol#236, Bicol#237, Bicol#248, Bicol#249, Bicol#250, Bicol#251, Bicol#252, Bicol#262, Bicol#263, Bicol#264, Bicol#265, Bicol#266, Bicol#267, Bicol#268, Bicol#269, Bicol#273

On test results received 

A total of two hundred ten (210) test results were received today. One hundred eighty-six (186) are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while twenty-four (24) are from Bicol Medical Center (BMC).

Breakdown of 199 negative results:
Albay PHO -87, BMC – 6, Camarines Sur – 11, NICC – 1, Sorsogon – 21, Legazpi CESU – 70, USI – 3.

1 Death

One death resulting from Covid-19 was also recorded in the province of Albay. The 7th death in Albay is Bicol#282, a 58-year old Filipino female from Daraga who was reported positive last July 21, 2020, passed away at 2:45 AM Monday. She first experienced symptoms on July 15, 2020 and was admitted at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) on July 19, 2020. Her cause of death is Fatal arrhythmia secondary to ACS NSTEMI in sinus tachycardia; FC IV acute respiratory distress, acute respiratory failure, secondary to CAP HR w/ hypoxia; COVID-19 confirmed critical pneumonia.

Cases Nationwide

Meanwhile, the DOH Central office recorded 3,226 new cases of Covid-19. This brings to a total of 106,330 Covid-19 cases in the country. Total active cases is 38,405 with 65,821 recoveries and 2,104 deaths.

The Philippines remains second to Indonesia in terms of the total number of cases in Southeast Asia. Indonesia has 113,134 cases.
