30 July Bicol Covid Update: Total cases now at 432


The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) – Bicol records 10 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one death. The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol Region is now 432. Active cases are 259.

A total of 301 test results were received Thursday. 287 are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while 14 are from Bicol Medical Center (BMC). Of the 301 test results, 10 are new positive, one is a repeat test, and one invalid. One death has also been recorded Thursday.

Of the 9 new cases, 5 are from Albay (2 Tabaco City,2 Legazpi City, 1 Ligao City ) while one each for Catanduanes, Masbate, Camarines Sur, and Naga City. The identifiers of the cases are as follows:

  • Bicol#423 is a 79-year old Filipino male from Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon. He first experienced symptoms on July 26, 2020 and consulted the same day in a private hospital in Sorsogon City. His history of exposure is for verification. The patient died early morning Thursday. His result came out positive for SARS-CoV-2 with Acute Respiratory Arrest, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Pneumonia High Risk as cause of death.

  • Bicol#428 (Medical Lab Tech) – 34 – M – Legazpi City, Albay – Onset of Illness: July 24, 2020 – Exposed to Bicol#342 – Quarantined
  • Bicol#429 – 73 – F – Tabaco City, Albay – History of Exposure & Onset of Illness: For verification – Quarantined
  • Bicol#430 (Project Devt Officer) – 31 – M – Tabaco City, Albay – Asymptomatic – Exposed to Bicol#329 – Quarantined
  • Bicol#431 (Brgy. Tanod) – 54 – M – Ligao City, Albay – Asymptomatic – Makati City (For verification) – Quarantined
  • Bicol#432 – 8 – M – Legazpi City, Albay – Asymptomatic – Muntinlupa City (July 21, 2020) – Quarantined

A total of 32 recoveries have also been reported by LGUs to RESU today.

Meanwhile, total cases in the Philippines is now 89,374. Total recoveries is 65,064 and deaths is 1,983. The sudden surge of recoveries is due to the reclassification of “mild symptoms” of Covid 19 and “asymptomatic cases” to “recovered cases”.
