28 May Bicol Covid Update: Cases in Region 5 now at 69

After several straight days of being stable at 68 cases, the Department of Health Center for Health Development in Bicol (DOH CHD-Bicol) recorded Thursday, May 28, one new case from Legazpi City.

The 69th case is a female with travel history from Sta. Rosa Laguna.

A total of 90 test results were received Thursday. 63 test results are from Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) while 27 are from Bicol Medical Center (BMC).

On recoveries

Patients with local code Bicol#60, and Bicol#67, both frontliners and both from Camarines Sur yielded their 1st negative results yesterday while Bicol#65 from Matnog, Sorsogon tested negative today for COVID-19. Bicol#49 and Bicol#53 both healthworkers from Legazpi City, Albay have also recovered.

Bicol#39, a nurse, Bicol#45, a physician and Bicol#46, a nurse are now fully recovered.

On Suspects and Probable

Bicol Region has fifteen (15) suspects and one (1) probable case. Ten (10) suspects are from Albay, three (3) are from Camarines Norte, one (1) from Catanduanes and one (1) from Sorsogon. The one (1) probable case as of 6PM today is from Albay.

The Bicol Region has 439 bed capacity dedicated for Covid. 35 of these are ICU beds, 291 are isolation beds, and 113 are Covid Ward beds. With the low number of cases in the region, utilization of these beds range from 2.9% to 19.9%.

There are also 32 mechanical ventilators and utilization is 3.1%.
