The Department of Health Center for Health Development – Bicol (DOH CHD-Bicol) reports that of the eighty-six (86) test results released on Saturday, May 9, two (2) health workers were found positive bringing the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bicol to fifty-nine (59).
The 58th confirmed case is a 48-year old Filipino female from Daraga, Albay. She is a close contact of patient with local code Bicol#36. Patient is asymptomatic and was checked at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) on April 29, 2020. Bicol#58 is a nurse.
A 27-year old Filipino male from Ligao City, Albay is the 59th confirmed case of COVID-19 in the region. He is asymptomatic and was swabbed by the Albay Provincial Health Office on May 7, 2020. His history of exposure is being validated. Bicol#59 is a utility worker at a health facility. He is the nineteenth (19th) health worker to test positive for COVID-19 in the region.
On results released
Eighty-four (84) test results released Saturday yielded negative for SARS CoV-2 via Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT PCR). Bicol#39, a 43-year old female healthcare worker from Naga City, Camarines Sur now tested negative on RT PCR. Patient is for discharge but required to undergo 14-day quarantine and repeat swabbing after 14 days.

Meanwhile, the Philippines continue to trail Singapore and Indonesia in terms of Covid-19 cases. The Philippines has 10,463 cases with 696 deaths. Singapore has 21,707 with 20 deaths, and Indonesia has 13,112 with 943 deaths.
