The Department of Health Center for Health Development – Bicol reports seven (7) new confirmed cases on Fridat, May 8 bringing the total number of COVID 19 cases in the region to fifty-seven (57). The newly recorded cases is the highest number of positive cases recorded in a day in Bicol Region.
A 23-year old Filipino female from Tigaon, Camarines Sur is the 51st confirmed case of COVID-19 in the region. Said patient consulted at Bicol Medical Center (BMC) on May 5, 2020. Her history of Exposure is still being established. Bicol#51 is currently asymptomatic.
Bicol#52 is a 26-year old Filipino male from Daraga, Albay. He is a close contact of patient with local code Bicol#45. His onset of illness was on April 28, 2020. He was seen on May 4, 2020 at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH). Bicol#52 is the third (3rd) physician to test positive of COVID-19.
The fifty-third (53rd) confirmed case of COVID 19 is a 38-year old Filipino female from Legazpi City, Albay. She is a close contact of Bicol#36. Her onset of illness was on April 29, 2020 and was seen the same day at BRTTH. Bicol#53 is a nurse, and the seventeenth (17th) health worker infected of COVID-19 in the region.
A 51-year old Filipino female from Legazpi City, Albay is the fifty-fourth (54th) confirmed case in Bicol. She is asymptomatic and was seen on April 26, 2020. She is currently at an LGU quarantine facility. Her history of exposure is for verification.
Bicol#55 is an 18-year old Filipino female who is also from Legazpi City, Albay. Patient is currently asymptomatic was also seen on April 26, 2020. She is currently at a facility quarantine. History of exposure is also for verification.
The fifty-sixth (56th) confirmed case of COVID-19 is a 44-year old Filipino female from Daraga, Albay. Her history of exposure is for validation. She is asymptomatic and was swabbed on May 6, 2020 by the Albay Provincial Health Office.
An 8-year old Filipino female from Daraga, Albay is the 57th confirmed case in the region. She is a close contact of patient with local code Bicol#42. Patient is asymptomatic and was seen on May 6, 2020.
Seventy-four (74) test results were released today. Sixty-six (66) tested negative while seven (7) are new positive and one (1) is equivocal. Equivocal means that a sample is tested twice but result is neither positive nor negative. A new sample needs to be collected again for testing.
No new recoveries were recorded.
