The local government of Buhi in Camarines Sur released 150,000 Tilapia fingerlings in Lake Buhi Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
The activity is part of the food security program of the municipality and is expected to augment and further populate the wild tilapia population in one of Rinconada’s lakes. Mature fishes can then be harvested by the people around the lake who have no fish cages and rely on wild tilapia fishing.
The dispersal is headed by Mayor Margie Aguinillo and Vice Mayor Jofred Balagot.
The tilapia fingerlings were provided by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources with the assistance of Farm Manager Cynthia Ailes-Lacoste.
