19April Bicol Covid Update: Positive cases hikes to 25

While many are expecting that the numbers in the Bicol Region will flatten at 19 positive cases of Coronavirus disease, the Department of Health Center for Health Development in Bicol (DOH CHD-Bicol) saw a sudden spike on Sunday morning, April 19, 2020 with the addition of six more cases. Total positive Covid-19 cases is now at 25 while total persons under investigation (PUIs) for possible virus is 203.

The 20th confirmed case is a 54-year old male from Albay. He had a history of travel from Marikina City. He is currently admitted at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH).

A 50-year old female from Albay is the 21st confirmed case of COVID-19. She had a history of exposure to a confirmed positive case. She consulted at BRTTH last April 17, 2020.

The 22nd COVID-19 case is a 28-year old female from Albay. She consulted at BRTTH last April 17, 2020.

A 36-year old female from Albay is the 23rd confirmed positive case. History of exposure is still being established.

The 24th confirmed case of COVID-19 is a 57-year old female from Albay. She had a history of exposure to a confirmed positive case.

A 63-year old female from Catanduanes is the 25th case in Bicol region. She had a history of travel from Japan. She was admitted last March 12, 2020 at Eastern Bicol Medical Center.

Two PUIs tested negative for COVID-19 while three (3) are awaiting results. These bring the total number of PUIs with negative results to 175. Total recorded PUIs as of today is 203.

We will not stop in reminding every Bicolano to practice basic preventive measures like social distancing, regular handwashing, cough etiquette, and disinfection of frequently touched objects. Stay at home at all times unless it is necessary to go out. When going outside, wear mask and maintain 1-meter distance from other person. Upon returning home, wash hands and leave your shoes/slippers at your doorstep.
