The Department of Health Center for Health Development Bicol (DOH-CHD Bicol) recorded two new cases of confirmed case of COVID-19 as of 9 April 2020 leading to a total of 16 cases in the region. One new recovery was also noted leading to a total of 9 recoveries.
The fifteenth (15th) case is a 60 year-old male from Albay and isadmitted at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital. Onset of illness was on March 20, 2020. History of travel is still being established.
A 59 year-old female from Camarines Sur is the sixteenth (16th) confirmed case in Bicol Region. She had a history of exposure to a positive COVID-19 case.
Contact tracing activity is closely coordinated with the concerned Local Government Unit and hospital for those who had exposure or had a close contact with the said patient.

On the new recovery
Bicol region has one new recovery for COVID-19. The patient with local code Bicol # 3 (PH 765) is the new recovery after testing negative for COVID-19. He is the 50 year old male from Albay.
On PUIs
Bicol region as of April 9, 2020 records an additional 12 Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) bringing the total to 153, 112 tested negative and 25 awaiting results.
Appeal to the public
The DOH CHD Bicol continually reminds the public to exercise physical distancing, regular handwashing, cough etiquette and wearing of mask when going outside.
The DOH CHD Bicol also appeals to the public to support instead of discriminating health care workers and frontliners.
