Albay’s incumbent Congressmen in the First and Second Congressional Districts got reelected with overwhelming votes while the Third District has a new Congressman.
Congressman Edcel Lagman of the Liberal Party (LP) generated 96,279 votes or around 20 thousand more than closest competitor, Herbie Aguas of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
Joey Salceda of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipi-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), on the other hand, pounded independent candidate Gil Goyena by coming up with 182,750. Goyena only got 10,357.
The newly vacated congressional seat in the Third District, meanwhile, will be taken over by Fernando Cabredo (PDP-Laban) after he beat three more contenders including former Congressman Reno Lim. Cabredo got 106,717 while his closest contender, Lim, got 88,307.
The results are based on the 97.86% of the election returns submitted to the Commission on Elections.
