The seat to be vacated by Panganiban, Catanduanes Mayor Robert A. Fernandez is being contested by three mayoralty hopefuls — Gregorio Angeles of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Edgardo Morales of the Liberal Party (LP) and Cesar Robles of the United Nationalists Alliance (UNA).

In the vice mayoralty race, incumbent Vice Mayor Remelito Cabrera is seeking reelection under the PDP-Laban banner. he is being challenged by Melchor Velasco of UNA.

The race for seats in the Sangguniang Bayan is being contested by 16 candidates. This include the seven incumbent councilors who are seeking re-election.
