Incumbent Malinao, Albay Mayor Avelino Ceriola is not running this 2019 elections. Councilor Leny Ceriola of the Kusog Bikolandia (KB) will attempt to take his stead and will compete with Christopher Mark Moll of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and Alicia Morales of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (DP-Laban).

If the 2016 election results will be the basis, this year’s mayoralty race could be between Ceriola and Morales. Both got a little over than 10,000 votes in 2016 — only that Ceriola got it in her bd for a Sangguniang Bayan seat while Morales generated her votes when she challenged the incumbent mayor, Avelino.

In the Vice Mayoralty race, incumbent Vice Mayor Sheryl Capus is being challenged by Virlyn Aycocho of PFP and Erna Ceriola of KB. The odds are in favor of the incumbent.

In the Sangguniang Bayan, only four of the eight seats will be vacated giving a room for newcomers. The reelectionists are Abner Cargullo of the Liberal Party (LP); and, Norlito Cas, Jose Chavez and Joan Luyun who are running under PDP-Laban.
