Unlike in 2016, Patty Alsua will be facing two competitors in the mayoralty race this May 2019 elections – independent candidate Roman Jaucian, and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard bearer Rey Prollamante. Alsua, who is running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), has the incumbency advantage and the machine, as well, courtesy of Congressman Fernando Gonzalez.

In the vice mayoralty race, incumbent Vice Mayor Sherwin Quising is stepping down making his seat up for grabs. Two are looking forward to occupy the seat – incumbent Councilors Manoling Garcia and Ted Residilla. The former is running as an independent candidate while the latter is with PDP-Laban.

In the Sangguniang Panlungsod, 19 filed their intentions to occupy the seat. Four of them are incumbents.
