A political reconfiguration is happening in Sorsogon province. National figure, Senator Chiz Escudero, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) while the Lees who used to control the province are seeking other posts.

Nine candidates, including Escudero, filed COCs for governor five of whom are independent candidates. Many are looking at an “election massacre” with Escudero as the man wielding the “vote-sword” come the May elections.

In the vice gubernatorial post, there are three contenders but the fight is most likely between Wowo Fortes under NPC and Gie Gallanosa under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban). The third contender is Erwin Zuniga of Pederalismo ng Dugon Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).
