Marcial “Lito” Estevez Tuanqui Jr., Uragon

It is with profound sadness that Biklish announces the passing of Marcial “Lito” Estevez Tuanqui Jr., a dedicated public servant, historian, civic leader, and beloved Albayano. Sir Lito joined Our Creator last February 1, 2026. His life was one marked by service, wisdom, and deep commitment to the people and heritage of Albay.

Born on May 4, 1946, Lito Tuanqui served with distinction as Vice Governor of Albay, and continued to contribute to the province long after his tenure in public office. He was widely respected not only for his sharp mind and deep local knowledge, but also for his role as one of the go-to “wise guys” and trusted sources of Biklish insights on matters involving Albay — sought after by journalists, civic groups, and citizens alike for clear, grounded perspective.

Beyond government, Lito was an avid historian, author, and community contributor whose work on local genealogy and culture celebrated the rich tapestry of Albay’s families and traditions. His passion for Bicol history enriched the province’s cultural heritage and inspired many to appreciate where they came from and why it matters.

He also generously supported local institutions, including contributions to Albay Library and civic libraries that preserve the stories and accomplishments of generations.

Marcial “Lito” E. Tuanqui Jr. will be remembered for his steady counsel, humility, love for community, and unwavering belief that understanding one’s past is key to leading with integrity in the present. He leaves behind a legacy of thought, service, and inspiration that will endure among the people of Albay and beyond.

Rest in peace, Sir Lito.
