Oas in Albay province is known among others for its unique delicacy, the “puto de oas”. The Oas version of rice cake is a biscuit made of rice and steamed in coconut shell. It cracks in the mouth but melts with distinct sweetness.
To highlight this delicacy, the local government has organized the “Puto Festival” which will run from April 29 to May 8.
The Festival features different activities including a chess tournament influenced by the youngest international chess player from the municipality — Bince Rafael Operiano.
